Introduction

Incon was engaged by Ginos Group to undertake a structural review and seismic assessment of an existing heritage warehouse building located at 7 Santo Parade, Port Adelaide. The project formed part of a redevelopment strategy to convert the existing structure into a mixed-use development incorporating residential apartments and commercial spaces, requiring verification of structural adequacy under updated design standards.

Project
description

Significant alterations and additions were required to the existing temple building including a feature entrance canopy and the a large function area.

Challenge

To balance between pre-existing structures and new works, a structural engineering solution was needed for the consideration of any proposed changes.

Solution

We completed a detailed structural engineering design documentation for the proposed changes, including a construction sequence. The temple was able to remain operational during construction, and the structural integrity of both new and old buildings remained sound.
